Disclaimer: Islam & Chakras
Before we get into the how, let’s explore the what — and the why it matters.
While the concept of chakras is not part of the Islamic theology, it’s not uncommon to explore chakra balancing as a mindfulness practice rather than a spiritual belief system. If your intention is to enhance inner alignment without associating partners with Allah (SWT), then this can be a safe and meaningful practice if you stay within the Islamic framework.
–> Stick around — we’ll explore how Islam actually offers it’s own version of “spiritual alignment”, one that’s divinely rooted.
What Exactly Are Chakras — And Why Do They Matter In Islam?
If you are anything like me, you may have gone through a phase — or you’re in it right now — of pouring all of your energy into finding inner peace, developing self-awareness, and healing past wounds. Most of us don’t stumble onto this path randomly; it often begins with a painful experience. The kind that cracks you open and sets you on a deeper journey.
Alhamdulillah, if you’ve made it here, you are already being guided toward Truth.
Imagine you are walking down a long , and foggy road. The mist around you glows a rich shade of red. As you set your gaze further out, the red starts to dissipate into an array of other colors. It’s like you stepped inside of a rainbow; you feel calm and safe. Each color awakening a new feeling.
–> This is what the Chakras symbolize: 7 energy centers rooted within us that affect our physical, emotional, and spiritual health.
Just as light travels in waves, energy is believed to vibrate at different frequencies. These frequencies are symbolically linked to specific colors that align with a spiritual meaning.

What Happens When Energy Is Blocked?
When energy can’t flow freely through one or more chakras, we experience things like:
- emotional struggles
- physical illness
- spiritual disconnection
The good news? You may already be doing things that help clear blocked energy without even realizing it.
Common Chakra Balancing Methods

Which of these practices have you tried before? Did you notice a difference in your energy afterwards?
Islam’s Answer to Balance: Purpose Over Energy
Islam doesn’t just offer “balance” — it helps us align with our purpose.
“When the world pushes you to your knees, you’re in the perfect position to pray!” — Sufi mystic Rumi
When it feels like you can’t escape the darkness with shadows behind you , beside you and in front of you — just look up!
Allah (SWT), placed you in this moment not to break you, but to guide you back to Him.
“Allah does not burden a soul beyond that it can bear” (Sura Al-Baqarah | Verse 286).
Just as the 7 chakras represent energy centers; Allah (SWT) created 3 spiritual centers within us: The Nafs, The Qalb, and The Ruh
Connecting the 7 Chakras with the Islamic framework
The Nafs — Our Soul or Ego Self:
This nafs is our lower self battling desires, fears, and worldly attachments. It corresponds to the lower three chakras.

The Qalb — The Heart
The qalb is our emotional and moral compass — the seat of sincerity, love and truth. It connects to:

“Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest” (Sura Ar-Ra’d | Verse 28)
The Ruh — The Spirit
The ruh is the divine spark within us. Scientists have even observed a burst of light at conception, a sign of life’s sacred beginning
“Then he fashioned him and breathed into him from His spirit…” (Sura As- Sajda | Verse 9)
Subhan Allah! The Ruh is our direct link to Allah; making it the highest part of the human being. The chakras that align with the ruh are:

Holistic healing through Islam
Islam has always offered natural healing methods that parallel modern energy practices.

From the Islamic lens, the focus is more on strengthening the connection with the divine as opposed to reaching a divine connection.
Which of these Islamic practices could you add to your daily routine this week?
Practical Tips to Begin Healing
- Start with Wudu before any self- care ritual
- Choose one ayah or du’a per week to reflect on and journal
- Stay present during salah – each posture is a spiritual reset
- Light bakhoor or oud while using dhikr beads
- Take a nature walk while listening to Qu’ranic recitations or nasheeds
Final Reflections
You don’t need to choose between ancient wisdom and Islamic truth. If Allah (SWT) led you through the path of energy healing, perhaps it was part of His plan to bring you back to His Light.
Your balance is found when your soul aligns with Allah’s light.
Let your healing be purposeful. Allow your balance to be rooted in faith. And trust that every path that promotes inner healing ultimately leads back to Him.
